Blog #3/Depression sets in

I am going into a huge depression as I watch football season come to an end. I don’t know what to do with myself for the next 6 months. I was alright the last 2 years because I had a couple of months to enjoy the Gator’s “back to back” NCAA Basketball titles, but now that is over and they are going to at best be first or second round or out.

I’m still pissed off at Donald Trump f&%$ng up the USFL’s emerging Springtime market share in the early 80’s that was supplying us with quality football all year long. But no he had to take it to the fall and the league falls completely apart in the span of two months.

I am already experiencing withdraws. I hate that the Jags are done, and I have to wait through the Pats making history to have the 08 season reset and do it all over again. There is nothing like football. It actually will altar my mood for awhile. It is the same feeling I used to experience when all of my pot was gone. The “Oh well I guess I am going to have to do without” feeling. It sucks! I can’t believe after seeing the USFL”s spring model of 20 years ago that would of worked to perfection if just left alone that someone with all of the great athletes in the world doesn’t see the genius in doing it again. WE HAVE JUST 3 MORE NFL GAMES. 4 If you count that piece of crap Pro Bowl.

Anyway, just wanted to vent. After all I am still royally pissed my team lost. That is what this is all about. I don’t really want the USFL to come back. I need the off season to catch up on all of my shirked responsibilities.

Lex my brother, I have an answer for you.... I felt everything you feel according to your blog. With the exception that I'm not out of my fix YET! (patriot fan here) But I will be once it's over. I dreded the 6 month laul between seasons for so long until I married my wife who is by no sence of the word , a "redneck" since she's a Italian/Jewish (only child) princess from Brooklyn NY. but every bit of a NASCAR fan. It is so much more than watching cars my another left turn. Took me one trip to a race and I was into it. I picked a driver and found myself something that filled the void of no football. I hate the fact that I like it cause I ragged for many years on "nascar" fans. But it is really awsome now that I understand the sport. You may have your reasons for not wanting to get into it, but for me....it kills any intrest in NBA (until the finals).

Lex, as a fellow Gator fan, don't sell them too short yet. You're probably right, but Billy Donovan is establishing himself as the best coach in college basketball, and our team is improving with each game. That dude Calathes is the best white boy we've had since Mike Miller, and Speights is playing a lot better lately and being a beast inside. They've got good guard play and an inside presence. If they get a good draw in the tournament and avoid Memphis or North Carolina, they can get into the Sweet 16 or Elite 8. I'm praying for them to play Duke, because as usual, Duke is overrated and the Gators white boys are a lot better than those nerds on Duke's team. We'd kick their ass. However, I feel your pain, Lex, at least I would any other year. I'm a diehard Dolphins fan, so I was extrememly relieved to see this year end. It was freakin' torture watching that piece of crap team this year.

Yeah Lex, Not having football on the weekends 6 months a year does suck, but it's a fact of life. At least you like hockey and you are in a hockey town. I hate baseball, loathe the NBA, and my college "Auburn" couldn't beat the The sisters of the Poor university in basketball. AT this point you should be feeling better about your situation now. The non-football tribulation will be over before you know it!

Think about this, not having football year round and having soccer on the T.V all day. Soccer is good and all...but there's something missing without the beautiful sport of Football. Oh the joys of living in Switzerland. You guys ever get a call from the Alps? Chris
