I watched an episode of Bob Costas now the HBO show this last weekend that featured the way we get our sports delivered to us in many different ways. Basically it was the hard core 50 plus Journalist vs the new “guy show” no journalism degree bloggers and sports talk show hosts. I am so fucking worn out with both to be quite honest with you. The old line journalist think you aren’t aloud to have a qualified sports opinion without a degree. “Shut the fuck up” you have spent so much time being bought and paid for in various press boxes around the country that you can’t even see your own clouded views are jaded by all the good surroundings that a team will provide to you on a daily basis. In other words you won’t go out of the way to write something controversial because your privilege’s will be revoked. Boy, that is some kind of journalism. At least the blogger will throw down with his or her opinion with the downside being lack of class and tact that a seasoned journalist will lend to the piece’s perspective. Matt Leinert slamming beer bongs with under aged chicks is certainly fun to watch on a website with some colorful caption under it but it really isn’t fair. Is it news you bet but this is where we need someone of experience to cover all angles of that story. Matt Leinert isn’t the problem with society but he sure looks like it when an unseasoned blogger gets a hold of it to put up on their site. Too bad we can’t get the two of them to work together. Blogger gets sent erroneous pics and information and then brings in Wilbon or Plasche to get to the bottom of it. Two guys I really like by the way. Journalists it seems are afraid to be the first to go there in a Pacman, Leinert, and Romo type situation but first to criticize when a blogger wrecklessly does. Truth is that we need them both. Look in future blogs for me to start throwing Sports talk radio under the bus for its poser mentality and hypocritical nature.
